Christmas at Home

We traveled for the christmas break because both of our families live 3 hours away and, for me, the holiday break is about spending time with family and friends. This is the first christmas that we've had with Drake where he understands presents and gift-giving, and I wanted to instill in him some of our own family traditions. Plus, I thought it would be pointless to bring gifts for Drake and L from our house to our extended families houses, only to bring them back home again. So we celebrated christmas at our house on the thursday before christmas. Drake went down for a nap and when he woke up Santa and Mommy and Daddy had put all of the presents under the tree! It was alot of fun. Drake loved picking the presents out from under the tree, bringing them to one of us to find out who got to open the present. And if the last present wasn't his to open, he helped you open yours!

These two pictures are of Drake opening a present from a good friend of mine. At first he didn't know what to make of the snowman ornament, but after I hung it on the tree he started pulling it away from the tree and laughed so hard when he let it go and it smashed back into the tree. It was hilarious, and didn't hurt the tree or the ornament. Santa gave him 3 big plastic dinosaurs. He loved the dinosaurs so much that he slept with them that night. Mommy and Daddy gave him many gifts but his favorite is a megablocks car-carrier truck. It has ramps and a compartment. He came up with a new game all by himself. He puts his favorite bunny in the compartment, closes it, and says "whe-is beebee". I usually say "I don't know, where is bunny?". Then he opens the compartment and either points or pulls the bunny out (depending on if he wants to play the game again) and says, there he is! We have no idea where he came up with this game, but it is so cute! The night we came back home from visiting family, he slept with the car-carrier in his bed.
