Romping Around
We visited family over the christmas break. My folks were very sick with some sort of stomach virus so we didn't go over to their house for a few days. That meant we spent alot of time with L's folks. They play alot of rough-housing (what do you expect in a house with 3 boys growing up) and Drake loves it! He loves being thrown on the couch. He made a new game where he takes the back cushions off the couch and piles them on the floor, grabs the floor pillows and piles them on the floor, climbs onto the couch, and jumps off onto the pile of pillows and rolls down the pile onto the second pile! In this first picture, his Uncle D is spotting him. He also likes to be chased and tackled. If he takes your glasses off and gently puts them down on a table, it means he wants to be chased and tackled and tickled.
After all of that romping around, he needed some time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some TV. This second picture is Drake watching a movie. It's either Cars, the Grinch Who Stole Christmas, or Penguins. Drake slept in a sleeping bag this trip! I was so proud of him because I wasn't sure how he would react to it. We set it out in the house play area for about 2 weeks ahead of time, and explained to him that when we travel it would be his bed. He slept in it without any problems. It is a spiderman sleeping bag, has a built-in air mattress, and we had it monogrammed. Christmas night he slept with the dump truck that Uncle T got for him and the Hess truck that Gramps & Nana got him.
So we did end up visiting my folks. No one had vomited for a full day so we thought the virus had passed. Well, while we were visiting one of the children vomited and after we came home on tuesday L became sick at 8:30 pm and Drake at 2am. This was bad. L was up sick every hour through the night, and slept all day on wednesday. I had to work wednesday, so I came home to a couple of messes. Drake vomited at least once a day for a week and is still having diarrhea, but not as bad. He just regained his appetite and ate as much food yesturday as he usually eats in two days! Amidst all of this, he was being treated for an ear infection, and at his doctor appointment this week his ears were fine. We were worried because he wasn't able to finish his medicine due to vomiting.
We had made plans to visit our friends in NC for the New Year, but because of this nasty sickness we couldn't travel, and didn't want to spread it. We were really looking forward to the trip. And I never wanted to spend my vacation cleaning up vomit and diarrhea, and disinfecting the house. We'll plan another trip, and hope this wasn't an omen for the new year.
