Snow Day, Bananas & More Shoes

A huge storm swept across the country last week and we didn't escape it! It snowed for 2 days and we had probably 30 inches of snow. My husband shoveled the driveway 3 times, I shoveled once. I got ready for work, looked outside at the road, looked at my junky car, and decided it would be best to stay home. Snow Day! In this first picture you can see snow flying behind Drake's head - that was Daddy shoveling while Mommy & Drake played in the snow. Drake made his first snow angel, and now whenever he lays down for us to change him or put his shoes on - he waves his arms and legs and says "snowwww" Drake was facinated by the snow. He wore his snow pants! And his boots! But we took his boots off because he couldn't walk straight in them - he wore his sneakers instead.
Drake has started to want to eat food the same way Mommy & Daddy eat food. So he likes to have his own slice of pizza, his own half of calzone, and he likes to eat a whole banana!Valentine's Day was nice. Drake and my husband got me cards, a boquett of flowers, and a great dinner from the prepared foods department at Wegmans, on the 13th. I was so happy! Drake got a card for Daddy, and I gave the boys gifts from the University Bookstore, on the 15th. The 14th was the big snow day, so we had great times together at home!

This last picture is of Drake wearing my shoes. He likes to put my shoes on, walk to where someone can see him, and say" Mommys Sues" He also likes to point to my hair or my husbands hair and say "Mommy Hair" "Daddy hair". And point to objects around the house that belong to us and say Mommy or Daddy. He calls himself You. He points at pictures or reflections of himself and says "You". So we are working at getting him to call himself Drake. He seems to be learning a new word every day now! dookie = cookie, choo choo tain = train, seep = sheep, aseep = asleep, sippers = slippers, peas = please, dit-doe = thankyou and here you go... the list goes on. It's so amazing to see language acquisition as it's happening!

Sounds like an excellent Valentine's and snow day! It's so cool that Drake's learning more words.

It's great! There is less guessing in figuring out what he wants. And he can say what he is thinking about to a limited extent. He can't express feelings yet though, so anger frusteration sadness all show themselves as temper tantrums.

Aww, poor Drake. I'm sure there's an element of frustration to all of those, since he can't even communicate what he's feeling.
But it is *so cool* that he's learning more words. That's such a neat age!

Like father like son. I remember Lance's wearing Tim's shoes and eating a banana ever so quickly - almost whole. I'm happy for you that Drake is calling you Mommy. I've enjoyed watching you raise Drake into a warm, loving and well behaved toddler. You're a great role model for him! Please save a pair of poholders for me to purcahse at Drake's party (can't wait)! If you have some with turquoise, that'll work in the condo.
